Good to know

Why are the Dolomites worth visiting in autumn?

For the larch metamorphosis is a poignant and impressive phenomenon, with Alta Badia being at its best in the autumn season. Traffic becomes non-existent, peace prevails and life assumes a placid and sustainable rhythm - as gentle as the colours of the forest.

What is the difference between Noriker and Haflinger horses?

Originating from Salzburg in Austria, the Noriker is one of the earliest horse breeds in Europe, whereas the Haflinger breed wasn't known until the end of the 19th century. While the Noriker is characterised by its great variety of colours, the Haflinger distinguishes itself by its light coat.

What is the importance of Saint Leonhard in Val Badia?

He is the patron saint of horses and livestock as well as the patron saint of Badia, after whom the hamlet of San Linert is named. The Rococo-style church is considered one of the most beautiful sacral buildings in South Tyrol.

Why is the Rait de San Linert such a popular event?

The St. Leonhard horse ride, which is held on the second Sunday in November in Badia, allows you to immerse yourself in Ladin culture and admire the typical costumes, carts and proud horses of Val Badia.

What makes Törggelen such an essential event for Ladins and South Tyroleans?

Törggelen is an old tradition, typical of the autumn season. When the grapes and chestnuts have matured it’s wonderful to meet up in the evenings to have a drink and savour local specialities with friends in wine cellars, under pergolas or in old farmsteads.
